Granville T. Woods

 Granville T. Woods, an exceptional African American inventor, was awarded a patent for his revolutionary invention of the electric railway on November 10, 1891. U.S. Patent No. 463,020 "Electric Railway System," was a significant milestone in the progress of transportation technology, blending electrical engineering with innovative thinking to improve public transport efficiency and safety. Woods' innovations in electric railway technology were pivotal during a period when urban transportation was transitioning from steam-powered to electric systems.
